The Couple

Shannon and Chris met at a local golf course in Fort McMurray four years ago. Shannon was working in the restaurant and Chris was the head golf pro. Shannon worked primarily the morning shift, and Chris would go in every morning for breakfast. After about two months Chris asked Shannon on a date and they’ve been together ever since! Chris proposed on Christmas Eve in 2019 when they were on the east coast visiting Chris’ family. They go back east to visit his family every year for the holidays and this was a special way to celebrate the holiday season! To make the day extra special, Chris incorporated some of Shannon’s favourite things to do while visiting the east coast: walking the boardwalk and feeding the ducks! 🙂 Chris says he loves how selfless Shannon is, and Shannon loves how hardworking Chris is! They enjoy going on walks with their dog and exploring trails in their region. A perfect date night to these two includes a nice dinner with wine.

The Wedding Day

Chris and Shannon reached out to me in December 2020 to photograph their elopement in February 2021. Due to the uncertainties of Covid-19, they decided to cancel their scheduled 2021 wedding on the east coast and elope in the Rocky Mountains. Shortly after they officially booked me, one of Shannon’s best friends messaged me on instagram saying that she and a few other friends would like to pay for the majority of their elopement package. Shannon had NO idea- it was a complete surprise! I always talk about kindness and connection and how these are things that completely encompass what my business is all about. I’m so grateful that I continually cross paths with people who value these same things. I was so inspired by this act of kindness and the support that was shown to Shannon and Chris.

On February 27, 2021 they eloped at the iconic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. They got married on a beautiful, sunny afternoon. This was the first wedding where I was a witness on the marriage licence and I couldn’t have been happier to celebrate these two on their special day. They spent the day getting married, taking photos all around Lake Louise, going for dinner at the Fairmont and exchanging vows in private later that evening. Chris and Shannon said they were both so excited to get married and have each others company on the day- not having to worry about anything else. I find myself so emotional saying goodbye to all the couples who I’ve worked with over this pandemic. Couples have been through so much, and have sacrificed a lot. This job gives me the honour of walking alongside people as they make a lifelong commitment to each other and their relationship- a defining milestone in their life. It meant so much to be able to be there for Shannon and Chris and document their special day. Congratulations to the both of you!

All my love,

xo Jenny
