The “Peach Kissed” Inspiration

Melissa Dawn Event Designs – Alberta Wedding Designer:
“When Jenny asked me to collaborate and design a styled wedding at a new venue in Alberta, I was thrilled. The constant lockdowns and lack of real weddings has definitely taken away our opportunity to create beauty and magic for our clients. I felt inspired by the venue’s blank canvas of white walls and natural lighting to create a fresh look, so I went with a modern peach and citrus palette that makes you crave sweet, summer air. The ceremony featured soft, rosy linens that hung from the ceiling with a romantic poem printed down the middle and hand drawn peaches and florals on the sides. We hung rows of fresh blooms in front as the piece de resistance with more whimsical arrangements on the floor. It looked like a fairytale garden. The happy couple were both elegantly dressed in white. We loved Andrea’s sleek, low ponytail with the handmade pearl wrap and Eric’s blush bow tie to complete his look. I dressed the table in a white majestic linen with a peach satin runner. Each setting featured gold rimmed charger plates with bella white dinner plates and modern white and gold flatware to tie the pieces together. The clear ghost chairs were a deliberate design choice to achieve the fresh and modern look. One of my favourite pieces of the table were the custom printed linen napkins. Each napkin unfolded to reveal the menu, making the reveal and experience. My other favourite part was the custom, small batch chocolate bars made as the guest favours. Each white chocolate bar had dried orange peel, florals and a delicate vellum wrap with a gorgeous white ink design that was sealed with wax.”

Stephanie Sousa, Floral & Field– Alberta Wedding Florist:

“The moment I was presented with this opportunity, I knew it would be special.  It was exciting to work with a group of like minded, creative individuals, that were passionate to create something unique, while truly believing in collaboration.  I call it divine timing. The moment everything falls into place and you experience a sense of calm confidence. I knew we would be creating an experience of nothing less than whimsical, fresh and romantic, all kissed with flirty peach tones. Once it all comes together, allowing you to step back, and experience every detail coming to life and feeling that you have truly created moments of pure magic, can you actually exhale and share in the excitement of its beauty.  Leading to this moment was hours of thought and intention to every single bloom incorporated into the concept and design.  Each bloom’s colour, shape, texture, and movement had its purpose and moment to shine. The poppies flirty ruffled petals added a sense of whimsy and a bright pop of colour. The spirea’s delicate buds added texture while the branches provided a feeling of movement. While the sweet peas’ dainty blooms bridged the colours of peach and blush tones and provided sweet aromatics while they danced like butterflies along the top of the bouquet. We knew we wanted to fully utilize and emphasize our venue’s stunning twenty foot ceilings for the ceremony.  I loved the idea of hanging florals from the ceiling, but with the height and amount of flowers required it felt like a daunting challenge for me to realize my vision.  Years of experience have helped me to trust my design instincts that this was the right decision and I needed to make it happen.  In the end, it was all worth it! This became one of my favourite installations to date. Hanging florals were the perfect combination of romance and whimsy. They helped to carry your eye upwards and emphasize the beautiful ceiling height. I have learned to embrace the moment when you encounter a challenge that forces you to come up with a unique solution that results in a more creative experience. I’ll continue calling it divine timing.  It’s that experience we all strive for in our creative journey when we get to create moments of pure magic.”
