I recently had the honor of being part of a special surprise proposal that I’m so excited to share with you all today! It all began when Derek reached out to me while he was in the midst of ring shopping, seeking advice not just on capturing the moment but also on how to make it unforgettable. After brainstorming several ideas, he settled on a plan that was as romantic as it was breathtaking: Proposing to his beautiful bride to be at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald in Edmonton. The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald is known for its iconic views of the river valley and is known as the majestic Edmonton Castle. What made this all even more touching was that Derek is the brother of a bride whose wedding I had previously photographed, and it was so heartwarming to see their family’s love story continue.
On the day of the proposal, everything fell into place perfectly. Derek and Brooke started with a leisurely lunch at the Fairmont, savoring the moment and soaking in the anticipation of what was to come. The weather was on our side, providing a clear day that allowed us to take full advantage of the stunning outdoor scenery.
With the help of Angela from Lovella Lifestyle, who designed exquisite floral arrangements including a stunning arch overlooking the river, every detail was meticulously crafted to enhance the beauty of the occasion.
They strolled through the grounds of the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, and Derek found the perfect spot to pop the question. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Edmonton’s skyline and the curated elegance of the floral decor, Derek got down on one knee and asked Brooke to be his forever. It was a moment filled with joy, tears, and overwhelming love, and I was honored to be there to capture it all.
These are the moments that remind me why I do what I do. Being entrusted to document such intimate and profound milestones is a privilege I cherish deeply. Derek and Brooke’s proposal was not just a beautiful event but a testament to the enduring power of love and the importance of celebrating it in style.
