Sun-kissed September Family Session

Family sessions were born from past wedding couples asking me to document their growing families and I just can’t get enough! This beautiful couple got married in 2016 and it was one of the first weddings I ever photographed! Sending a sincere thank you to Attena and Taylor for taking a leap of faith on me four years ago. Their wedding took place in Cardston, Alberta and we snuck away to the outskirts of Waterton National Park for some dreamy mountain portraits. You can see more of their wedding, here.

It is always an honour to document such important milestones in peoples lives. Attena booked this photoshoot to celebrate her daughter turning one. I was so excited! We immediately started planning this shoot for the middle of September. We were inspired by a pastel/neutral colour palette to create soft and organic portraits. I always opt for a soft fall color palette versus a bold fall color palette when selecting outfits. I absolutely love how Attena incorporated sage green, creams, tans, leather browns to the styling details for these portraits. These colors fit seamlessly with the scenery around them resulting in beautiful photographs. Shout out to the Canadian Film Lab for doing an incredible job on these film scans. I am in love with the tones in these images.

Photographing kiddos at this age is so much fun. They are just so sweet, intrigued by the camera, and curious about the world around them. I strive to document heartfelt moments as well as classic images for clients. The way your babe holds onto your fingers as they are learning to walk. The way they fit perfectly in your arms. The details of their little feet. The smile that radiates from moms face after she whispers “I love you” to her daughter. I love creating photos to remind families that their love and their story are beautiful. I hope you enjoy this sun-kissed September family session as much as I do!
