Samantha Victoria Bridal Store

Samantha Victoria is a Canadian, female-owned bridal store located in Edmonton, Alberta. Samantha Victoria was started by two friends, Sam and Vickie, as an outlet for their mutual love of fashion and celebrating special moments. The idea to open a bridal studio came to Sam and Vickie serendipitously over coffee one day- and they haven’t looked back since!

The idea for Samantha Victoria sparked in May 2019.

It first took shape as a series of pop-up events and trade shows beginning in October of that year. Plans to open their boutique bridal store were definitely derailed as a result of COVID, but they were finally able to open their doors in November 2020. I first visited the bridal store in January 2021 and was immediately captivated by their gorgeous storefront- the attention to detail throughout the space makes for a luxurious experience the moment you walk through the door. You will fall in love with their gown selection– they are romantic, feminine and perfect for the modern bride.

Getting to know the ladies:

Sam and Vickie are both girlie girls who love clothes, good food and copious amounts of coffee. They believe in spreading kindness, are both softies for animals, and feel most alive when travelling. Friends and family are the most important thing to them, and they believe that anything can be accomplished with a strong support system. Sam actually had her own event & wedding planning company, while Vickie was a journalist-turned-fashion-blogger… opening a bridal store & specializing in bridal wear was definitely the perfect combination of both of their skill sets and interests!

Any advice for brides coming to your bridal store?

“Be open to trying different styles than you originally had in mind. In our experience, many brides will come in set on one style but will fall in love with something completely different than they expected. It’s so interesting watching a bride try on something that she had completely ruled out only to fall in love with it after her bridal party convinces her to try it on.”

When do you suggest brides start dress shopping?

“The sooner the better! Our dresses typically take 6-8 months to complete, and you always want to account for any alterations that need to be done, so give yourself lots of time and have fun during the process!”

What’s your philosophy as business owners?

“It’s simple— we treat every bride that walks through our doors as if she’s our best friend. We want every bride-to-be to feel special and have fun while she’s in our space, as this truly is an exciting time in her life and we want to honour that. We don’t believe in high-pressure sales and we never want anyone to leave our store feeling anything less than wonderful.”

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

“Hands-down being part of someone’s special day, and seeing the look in a bride’s eye when she finds the dress. It’s such a wonderful feeling being part of these special moments, and Vickie has even been known to tear up from time to time during fittings!”
