Myles & Chelsea // Farm Fresh Florals Wedding // Edmonton Wedding Photographer

The Couple

I met Myles and Chelsea back in 2018. They were referred to me by Amanda Keen, an amazing photographer based out of Fort Saskatchewan. Amanda is one of Chelsea’s best friends and was helping her find a wedding photographer. So! I met with Myles and Chelsea for a wedding consult at Starbucks and they had a list of questions for me (which was actually so much fun to answer). The connection instantly felt great and I knew we would work well together. Chelsea is very much type A and enjoys a good to-do list. I’m the same way so, instant friends. They started talking about their elegant, white/gold/greenery themed golf course wedding and I melted. All my dreams coming true. I legit said “CHELSEA OHHH MY GOODNESS THIS SOUNDS RIGHT UP MY ALLY. HAVE YOU SEEN MY WEBSITE?” She starts laughing and goes ummm YEP Jenny there’s a reason we are meeting with you tonight. Haha. So much fun. Myles and Chelsea talked about how much they love the mountains, and we discussed the possibility of going to the mountains on the day of the wedding for portraits, but we decided with the driving time it would take up too much of the timeline SO we decided to go to Canmore for their engagement photos in the fall (it looked more like winter, but it was the fall, haha!). We had the best time! So. Back to these cuties and their love story. They met at the Calgary Stampede in 2015 through mutual friends and have been together for five years! Myles said he couldn’t resist Chelsea’s little cowboy boots and dance moves!! They both knew there was special chemistry from the moment they met and fell in love practically the first week they dated (#bestillmyheart). They love travelling the world together and they actually went to Italy together in 2018 and had such an amazing time! Myles is so thoughtful- prior to proposing he took Chels to Al Forno, an Italian coffee shop, and he wanted her to reminisce on their amazing trip together. Afterwards they went to a park by the Bow River and he got down on one knee and asked Chelsea to marry him. She was COMPLETELY surprised and took forever to answer the question and say yes- but Myles said it was worth the wait! Chelsea describes Myles as handsome, funny, kind, thoughtful, helpful and handy. She loves his humor and how he balances out/relaxes her “plan-everything-do-everything-at-110%-stressed-out” personality. Myles describes Chelsea as beautiful, smart, supportive, loving and silly.

The Wedding Day

These beautiful human beings planned their wedding for June 20, 2020. They were the first couple to book me for a 2020 wedding (way back in 2018). Chelsea is a planner, and she got all her vendors lined up- dotted all her i’s, crossed all her t’s. She was READY. We had timelines, itineraries, shot lists, vendor lists, everything all ready to go in February 2020 as we started getting ready for the big day. Little did we know the following month the world would essentially shut down due the COVID-19 pandemic. As events unfolded with the pandemic, my heart broke for each couple navigating these waters. There was so much initial shock, confusion, loss, pain, grief, tears, anger… so many emotions. All the time, money, and planning that had gone into June 20, 2020 seemed to be so unfairly taken away in an instant. My heart broke. They post-poned their wedding from June to August, just to later learn that Calgary announced no public events for the entire summer. They knew post-poning to next year was likely the most realistic option, however they had been engaged for TWO years and just wanted to get married! So they decided to get married on their 5 year anniversary- July 8, 2020. They planned an intimate legal ceremony at Farm Fresh Florals surrounded by close family and friends. By now everyone knows how much of a RAINY summer we’ve had. I swear it rained basically every day in July. What the heck. We watched the weather closely and, sure enough, there was rain showers predicted on July 8. As we were driving to the venue I said a prayer basically the whole way. Praying for the rain to lift. This couple had been through so much, the last thing I wanted was for this day to get “rained out.” You guys. I KID YOU NOT. The moment we drove into the driveway at Farm Fresh Florals, the rain lifted and they were able to get married outside, we finished their portraits and even got sunshine at the VERY end right before we left. It was such a welcome gift as we were about to leave. This day was beautiful. There was so much emotion wrapped up in this day. Seeing them stand hand in hand exchanging vows made me so emotional. They deserved this moment, you know? Their vows were beautiful. Chelsea actually said her favorite part of the day was hearing Myles’ vows. Myles said his favorite part of the day was holding Chelsea’s hands during the ceremony and feeling so happy and in love. I had so many favorite parts of this day- my heart was SO full by the end of it. A special memory that sticks out to me is when the sun had come out and I asked them to dance together. Myles said ONEEEE MOMENT and he grabbed his phone and started playing some music. He played their song: “My heart is always yours” by Arkells. They started slow dancing together, just the two of them as everyone else had left the venue at this point. The sun was dancing around them and it was just a really tender moment… having their first dance together, with wet feet, a warm heart, on a flower farm. Words can’t express how happy I am for you Chelsea and Myles! Your chemistry, your love, your joy, your resilience, your kindness. Your ability to support each other through trials and grief, but also your ability to celebrate happiness despite things not going to plan. You’re amazing and I’m so looking forward to your big party with all your guests next May. Thanks for trusting me to document your big day. Sending alllllll my love! xo Jenny
